So there’s a new kid on the block (well actually they’ve been around for 10 years), but for some, it’s definitely ‘new’… Last week I was writing about their Light and Sweet club, and decided to dig a bit deeper this week. Vinese Wine Clubs has one of the fastest growing wine clubs called the American Cellars Wine Club. What I like about it is the opportunity to customize. You can specify Red, White, or a Mix. I also like that they focus on limited supply wines that are too small for stores to carry. So if you’re looking for some gems this club might be the way to go. You also get a free Wine Tote Bag for picnics… not the main reason to sign up for this club… but a nice wine picnic bag could never hurt.
They have 5 other wine clubs if you’re looking for something more specific. The Élevant Society Wine Club is for those that want the creme of the crop. If you’re looking for exclusive high quality red wine then this club is one of your best bets. The World of Wine Wine Club is another option that gives you a global feel for wines. Some people enjoy wine the most during holidays. For them I’d recommend the Four Seasons Wine Club - you can get a Holiday sampler. Lastely there’s the California Treasures Wine Club. It’s clearly not their main focus. If you want a California Wine Club I’d still recommend The Calfironia Wine Club - it’s all they do and they’ve always done it well.
Well my wife’s waiting for me… we are heading out to visit some friends tonight so I need to cut this post here.
Cheers,

What are your favorite cool summer reds? It feels like summer is slipping away and before it’s gone we should all get in a few more refreshing reds. Depending on where you live the summer may already be gone… but I’m in California and still have a month of nice weather left.
White wine seems to be the classic refresher in the summer, but some of us don’t care for white and will only do red. But don’t be dismayed, there are some fabulous reds to choose from for a hot day. So what do you look for in a cool summer drink? Most like a lighter drink and something with less alcohol since we’ll be guzzling it down. And usually you want something that chills well. Yes, you can chill reds. I think a Beaujolais is an obvious choice. You can also get a Bonarda from Argentina or a Barbera from Italy which should do the job. My suggestion is to experiment and see what you like best. Vinesse has a Light and Sweet wine club which could be ideal for the summer…. I only hope they include some good reds. Well I hope you all enjoyed your summer and are getting ready for the cold winters months ahead! I’m looking forward to having some juicy steaks with a nice heavy Malbec! Have a great week! So who knows about The Gold Medal Wine Club? They’ve got 5 different wine clubs and all of them offer highly rated award winning wines. If you’re looking to grow your own wine cellar or send a wine club gift to someone special I’m sure they’ll appreciate any of the 5 clubs from Gold Medal. The Gold and Platinum series are ideal as gifts… they are good value and still great wines. But if you’re buying for a real wine snob I suggest the Diamond Series. All of these wines are 93+ and are sure to please.
Everyone knows a Pinot fan… and now you have the perfect gift for them. You can get a Pinot Noir wine club from Gold Medal. Most of the selection comes from California but some also comes from around the world. If you’re really looking to experience different parts of the world then I’d suggest the International Series. The special part of this club is that these wineries cannot be found in the US. So they’re great additions to your cellar.
They’ve also got some tasting notes videos on their site. So if you’re not sure what to look for in a wine they’ve got you covered. The videos give some background on the winery, what to eat with the wine, etc. I think it’s a great idea!
They also do gift baskets… so if you’re looking for a one time gift rather than a recurring wine club I’d suggest the basket. Everyone’s always excited to get a gift basket.
Well I’m off to the grocery store. See you next week!

Hi Everyone,
So it looks like Mark is keeping super busy with the new baby, so I’ll be taking over the Wine Club Insider blog. I’m really excited to start writing in this blog. I’ll be writing weekly and posting every Wednesday morning. I figure mid week is the time everyone needs a little pick-me-up, as they are in the middle of the work week. And what better way to keep you going than to talk about wine! I’m an everyday guy thats been enjoying wine for over 20 years. I’ll focus most of my blog posts on Wine Clubs, but I’ll also talk about wineries I visit and other cool wine websites. And of course my favorite wines. So I look forward to your comments and will do whatever I can to help you find the perfect wine club for your cellar or family/friend.
Good wine hunting and I’ll talk to you soon!
