What are your favorite cool summer reds? It feels like summer is slipping away and before it’s gone we should all get in a few more refreshing reds. Depending on where you live the summer may already be gone… but I’m in California and still have a month of nice weather left.  White wine seems to be the classic refresher in the summer, but some of us don’t care for white and will only do red. But don’t be dismayed, there are some fabulous reds to choose from for a hot day. So what do you look for in a cool summer drink? Most like a lighter drink and something with less alcohol since we’ll be guzzling it down. And usually you want something that chills well. Yes, you can chill reds. I think a Beaujolais is an obvious choice. You can also get a Bonarda from Argentina or a Barbera from Italy which should do the job. My suggestion is to experiment and see what you like best. Vinesse has a Light and Sweet wine club which could be ideal for the summer…. I only hope they include some good reds.
